Kimmick Named 2017 Outstanding Student Athlete

Youngwood, PA - At the 36th Annual Athletic Recognition Banquet, Westmoreland County Community College's president Dr. Tuesday Stanley, presented Shelby Kimmick with the 2017 Outstanding Student Athlete Award for her academic and athletic accomplishments. Shelby maintained a 3.85 GPA and was a member of four athletic teams over her two years stint at Westmoreland. Kimmick was a member of the softball and basketball teams for two seasons, along with running cross country while playing soccer for one season as well. She held down two part-time jobs as well as being a new student orientation leader. Shelby was also the recipient of the All-USA Academic Scholarship Award in which she'll transfer to California University of PA in the fall to pursue a degree in social work. Other awards presented on the evening went to Brett Vallorani, Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year and Brooke Kalp received the Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year.
