Athletics Recognition Banquet

Westmoreland County Community College's president Dr. Daniel Obara presented Tyler Robbins with the 2014 Outstanding Student Athlete Award at the 33rd Intercollegiate Athletic Recognition Banquet. Robbins, a member of the golf team, maintained a 4.00 GPA in accounting and finance. Tyler was low medalist at the WPCC and PA State Golf Invitational this past fall, winning both tournaments in impressive fashion. He'll continue his athletic and academic careers at Barton College in North Carolina next fall. Dean of students Diane Hightower, presented over 40 certificates to student athletes for maintaining a 3.00 in their academic fields. The evening ended as WCCC's director of athletics, Dick Holler, presented PJ Bialas (men's soccer) with the 2014 Outstanding Male Athlete of the year while Whitney Thompson (softball) received the 2014 Outstanding Female Athlete of the year. Other outstanding award recipients per sport are as follows: Men's and Women's Cross Country - Kristen Cronin, Golf - Tyler Robbins, Volleyball - Nicole Goodiski, Men's Soccer - Cory Rager, Women's Soccer - McKenzie Ehrlich, Men's Basketball - Jordan Ruggiero, Women's basketball - Devon Larkin, Women's Bowling - Gwen Thomas, Men's Bowling - Jake Garris, Baseball - Jay Miller and Softball - Derica Crowley
