Baseball earns comeback win

Youngwood, PA  - Westmoreland County Community College and CCAC South passed the lead back and forth five times on Tuesday at WCCC, but in the end WCCC pulled out a 9-7 win over CCAC South.

WCCC finally managed to grab the lead after a strong eighth inning on an RBI double by Bobby Thompson, bringing home Anthony Rondon. An RBI double by Thompson scored Rondon to give the Wolfpack the lead for good.  Rondon racked up two RBIs on three hits as he singled in the first, sixth, and eighth innings.

Rodrigo Sarmiento worked out of four tough spots as he pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed no earned runs on two hits. Sarmiento faced his most difficult moment in the eighth inning.  South's starting pitcher couldn't get it done on the mound for the Tigers, taking a loss. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.

The Wolfpack jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first from a single from Rondon.  WCCC scored two runs in each of the second, fourth and eighth innings.  Jake Columbus scored a run in helping the Wolfpack improved to 4-15.  WCCC faces Butler CCC today at a key doubleheader starting at 2:00 PM
