Southern Trip, Trips Up Baseball

Myrtle Beach, SC - The 2016 baseball team opened up their southern trip with an impressive 15-7 win over New River Community College, but the Wolfpack went on to drop five consecutive games which saw them return home with a 1-7 record on the young season. During the New River CC game, the hot bat of Giuseppe Schiano racked up 4 RBI's as Dakota Sachs banged out a 3 run homer, while Mitch Matlas doubled and Anthony Faulk added a triple in the win. Ronald Baron closed out the game and picked up his first save of the season. Lackawanna College went on to defeat the Wolfpack 11-2 as Adam Cunningham added a RBI in the setback. Up next was Danville Community College, as Ronnie Baron went 3 for 3, but it wasn't enough as Danville posted a 6-0 shutout. WCCC went on to drop two contests to the NJCAA Division II powerhouses Mercer County Community College and Henry Ford Community College 15-2 and 16-6 before closing out their southern trip with a 7-3 setback against West Virginia Wesleyan's JV's which was highlighted by Anthony Faulk reaching base 3 times in the closing game of their Myrtle Beach trip. WCCC returns back to action on Tuesday, weather permitting, as they travel to St. Vincent College JV's for a 4:00 p.m. start.
