Baseball Season Ends

Youngwood, PA - The 2016 NJCAA Division III Baseball Regionals were not friendly to the Wolfpack early as they dropped their regional opener 15-0 to #3 seeded Prince George's Community College. PGCC'S pitching ace spun a one hitter in just five inning of work.  However, Westmoreland  bounced back with an 11-3 win over CCAC South in the elimination game.  Giuseppe Schiano racked up six RBIs on two hits for the Wolfpack as starting pitcher Garitt Woodburn got the win thanks to seven strikeouts. Woodburn allowed two earned runs, eight hits and one walk over seven innings. Mitch Matlas added a solo homer as the Wolfpack survived to play another day.

Westmoreland had their sights on a rematch with PGCC as the Owls were bounced into the losers bracket after a tough loss to top seeded Montgomery College.  Anthony Faulk led the pack attack with three hits on the afternoon which wasn't enough as their season came to an end with a 18-5 setback to the Owls.  Faulk and Vinnie Shoff were named to the All-Tournament team for their outstanding play. The loss finished Westmoreland's season at 20-15.
