Bio

The only coach in the history of the Westmoreland baseball program, Mike Draghi has led the Wolfpack program for 31 years.

Draghi's tenure guiding Westmoreland baseball has featured championships, postseason appearances and scores of players who have gone on to play at four-year schools. Under his tutelage, the Wolfpack have won 749 games, an average of more than 25 victories per year. In Coach Draghi's 31 seasons, Westmoreland has won eight WPCC titles, including a run of six straight from 2011-16, and eight runner-up finishes.

In 2021, Draghi's Wolfpack played one of the toughest schedules in the country, playing 29 of its 35 games against scholarship or four-year programs. At the end of the year, Westmoreland took two of three from Prince George's to be the Region XX representative in the Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament, where they fell at Rockingham (N.C.) College.

In addition to the conference titles, Draghi helped lead the Wolfpack to Region XX championships and NJCAA World Series appearances in 2005 and 2011. The 2005 Wolfpack team finished fourth overall in the tournament after posting a 2-2 record, including a victory which eliminated three-time defending champion Richland (Texas) College.

Another staple to Draghi's programs has been sending players to four-year schools to continue their academic and athletic careers. Over 90 former Wolfpack players have moved on to play, including playing at the University of Pittsburgh, LaSalle University, Manhatten University, California (Pa.) University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Slippery Rock University, Saint Vincent College, Mount Aloysius College, among others.

A 2007 inductee into the Pennsylvania American Legion Sports Hall of Fame and a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association, Draghi also served as head baseball coach at Greensburg Salem High School, as well as coaching the Greensburg American Legion and Junior American Legion teams.

Away from baseball, Draghi graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education and earned his Pennsylvania State Teacher Certificate from IUP in 1988. Since 1990, he has served as a health and physical education teacher in the Franklin Regional School District. Mike and his wife Mary Pat reside in Greensburg. He has one son, Nicholas, and two step-children, Katie (Boyd) Maloney and Daniel Boyd.
