Offense Shines in Men's Opening Win

Youngwood, Pa - The men's basketball team jumpstarted their season with an offensive showing that produced a 105-87 win over Penn State New Kensington to open their 2017 season. Westmoreland trailed at the half by one but went on to a 15 to 3 run to open up the second half and never turned back. Ja'Kory Freeman posted a game high 26 points followed up by back court partner Marcus Mullen's 21 points. Other top scorers on the evening were Kyle Carrington 20 points, Nicholas Porter and Alonzo Williams each added 13 points apiece. Westmoreland (1-0) will have busy weekend as they host their annual Tip Off Classic Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
