Men's Basketball Falls in WPCC Finals

Youngwood, PA - Pennsylvania Highlands Community College used a solid perimeter game in the second half to shut down Westmoreland 94-65 in the 2018 Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Championship game. The Wolfpack was faced with foul troubles all during the game which allowed the Black Bears to attack the rim and build their lead. Joaunn Rivers led four Wolfpack players in double figures with 17 points. Kyle Carrington, Kaleb Winchester and Ja'Kory Freeman added 13, 12 and 11 respectively as they fell to (11-17). Semi-final results: On Saturday, Kyle Carrington's clutch free throws with 7 seconds left in regulation led the Wolfpack to a 81-79 semi-final win. Westmoreland received double digit scoring from Nicholas Porter 16, Rivers and Ed Tyson with 12 points apiece followed by Freeman's 10.

Westmoreland will be hosting the 2018 NJCAA Region XX Men's Basketball Championships and will be the #3 seed and play the #2 seeded, Prince George's Community College on Saturday at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to Sunday's Regional finals at 3 p.m.
