Solid "D" Locks Up Women's Basketball Win

Youngwood, PA - They say defense wins championships which was the case on Tuesday night when WCCC women's basketball team's defense made a huge difference in a 60-54 win over Lorain CCC.  WCCC held Onxy Lopez who's one of the top five scorers in NJCAA Division III at 24 ppg to just 9 points on the night. "Our ladies stepped it up a notch and played great defense tonight, I'm so proud of their efforts.  We held a solid Lorain team to just 54 points and our players had a lot to do with that" stated first year head coach Gene Brisbane.  Chelsea Szakal continues to slice up the opponent as she poured in 23 points and more importantly it was her presence in the paint and on the boards that was difference maker as she finished with a season high 21 rebounds.  Brooke Kalp tossed in a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.  Shelby Kimmick provided a spark off the bench with valuable minutes and three crucial points down the stretch.  WCCC improved to (6-4) and will be headed to the Jamestown Tournament Dec 4 and 5.  The Wolfpack are slated to take on Central Penn College on Friday.
