Women's Basketball Falls in WPCC Finals

Youngwood, PA- After defeating the Panthers of the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville Friday night by the score of 78-50, the women's basketball team took their game to Butler County Community College on Saturday and dropped a hard fought 69-60 in the WPCC Championship game. Sophomore Brooke Kalp playing in her last home game on Friday, led all Wolfpack scorers with 20 points. Hot shooting Kylee Surike swished home 19 points, as Alyssa Kalp chipped in 13 and Baylee Riggle posted 12 points. Friday night's win improved the women to (16-7) and set up the championship matchup at Butler County Community College, as the Pioneers came up with several key scores keeping the Wolfpack at a distance on their way to a 69-60 win. Westmoreland (16-8) had three players in double figures in the game as Rachel Garris's 15 points was tops for the Wolfpack in the championship game. Alyssa Kalp's 11 points and Kathleen Camp's 10 points rounded out the top scorers. The women travel to the Region XX Tournament at host Montgomery College, as the Wolfpack has earned the #4th seed in the regional tournament and will face off against #5 NJCAA nationally ranked and top seed Montgomery on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
