#4 Ranked Raptors Too Much for Wolfpack

The women's basketball team gave the 4th ranked NJCAA division III ranked Montgomery College all they could handle in the Region XX women's basketball championships game but in the end the Raptors came out on top 85-66.  Westmoreland played hard and had the lead late in the third period when Montgomery hit a desperate half-court shot that tied the game and that shot seem to inflate the Wolfpack's chances.  Montgomery dominated the fourth period outscoring the Wolfpack 30-11 to capture the 2018 NJCAA Division III Championships. On the afternoon, Rachel Garris led all Westmoreland scorers with 16 points while Hannah Hempfield assisted with 13 and Alyssa Kalp netted 12 points. The loss ended Westmoreland's terrific season at (22-6). Hempfield and Kalp bother were selected to the All-Region tournament team of for their outstanding play during the regional tournament.

How they got here:  The Wolfpack defeated Anne Arundel Community College 66-53 to advance to the regional championship game. A slow first half was aided by a much more high tempo team in the second half as Kylee Surike fired away and netted 16 points. Lauren Felix splashed home 15 points, all coming by the three ball. Hempfield added 10 points which helped the Wolfpack punch their ticket to the regional finals.
