Wolfpack Q&A - Julia Jumper
This week's Wolfpack Q&A is with Julia Jumper. Julia played four sports at Westmoreland, which included hitting .292 while playing in right field for the 2019 WPCC Championship softball team. In addition to her time on the diamond, Julia also played golf, volleyball and bowling, where she helped the Wolfpack qualify for NJCAA Championships in 2019 and 2020. When she wasn't competing for the Wolfpack athletically, Julia served as the Student Government Association President for the 2019-20 academic year. And completing Julia's remarkable time at Westmoreland, she posted higher than a 3.9 GPA in the College's Culinary program, including a 4.0 GPA in three of her four full-time semesters.

Now that I am finished with college, I'm looking for a job where I can use what I learned at Westmoreland, but continue learning more and developing as a chef.
My favorite memory as an athlete would probably be when I bowled a 214 at Nationals (in 2020). There was so much energy and excitement that just kept building throughout the game, from myself and our supporters. It was my personal best game, the highest game anyone on our team had at Nationals, and a great way to end my career as a college athlete.
It's actually pretty unbelievable that I ended up doing four different sports in college, considering I had only played softball before coming to Westmoreland. Because of that, I would say that softball was the easiest for me. With the bowling, golf and volleyball, I was learning a whole new sport while also competing at the college level. That isn't something a lot of people can say they did and it was challenging. But the coaches were all great and I was surprised by how easily I was able to pick up each different sport. Some of my favorite memories and closest friends came from trying those sports. I would encourage all students to look into trying a new sport while at Westmoreland.
Westmoreland was the right school for me because not only do they have an awesome culinary program, but I was also able to get involved with athletics and become President of our Student Government Association. A lot of culinary schools are just culinary and Westmoreland gave me the chance to have a college experience in addition to getting the culinary degree.
My number one goal for the next 10 years would be to work in at least one other country. I love to travel and it would be such a cool experience and an opportunity to learn culinary tricks from another country.
