Coach Kocian Inducted into UPG Athletic HOF

Westmoreland County Community College would like to congratulate our Assistant Cross County Coach, Zach Kocian, on his induction into the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

Zach will be the first member of the UPG Cross Country program to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Kocian, who was a teammate of Westmoreland's head cross country coach Patrick Comer, and current UPG head cross country coach Jeremy Eshleman from 2003-2006. Zach is one of the most decorated athletes in the history of Pitt-Greensburg. He earned all-conference distinction all four years at Pitt-Greensburg. Kocian finished in 8th place twice in the AMCC Championship Meet, which was his best finish. Kocian also held the school's 8k record for 19 years from 2004-2023. Also, he has the most top 10 individual finishes in school history. Kocian started his coaching career at UPG as the assistant coach for the 2013 season, before coming to Westmoreland in 2018 to the present. "I admit that I was the runner I was thanks to Zach, and how hard he worked and us all," said Westmoreland head coach Patrick Comer. "Our student-athletes are so lucky to have someone like Zach as a part of our program here at Westmoreland." Congratulations Zach on a well-deserved honor.
