Baseball Opening Day Arrives

Wednesday afternoon saw opening day finally arrive for the Westmoreland County Community College baseball team. After three games being canceled due to inclement weather, the Wolfpack finally got onto the field, and hosted Penn State Fayette.
 
After the top of the first, the Wolfpack found themselves down 3 to 0 before lead off man Brady Stevenson ripped a doubled to right field to start Westmoreland's season offensively. Stevinson would advanced the third on a wild pitch, before scoring on a Matthew Perez fielders choice. 
 
In the bottom of the second inning, Owen Miller singled to center scoring Brayden Patton. The Wolfpack would score another run in the bottom of the second on a ground out by Bobby Etze, Which scored Anthony Massari, which made the score 4 to 3. 
 
Westmoreland Didn't score again until the bottom of the seventh inning when Dyson Murner Reached on an error, which allowed Tanner Colflesh to score, making it 11 to 4. Fayette would go on to score four more times making the final score 15 to 4.
 
In the game, the Wolfpack collected six hits by Stivenson, Miller, Colflesh, Patton, Massari, and Logan Short.  Short also caught two base runners stealing in his seven innings behind the plate.
 
Ty Husband was strong for the Wolfpack on the mound going two innings, allowing 1 run on one hit in his first outing of the season.  Ethan Wilson started on the mound for the Pack, and Brody Byrd and Sam Criger also took the mound for the Wolfpack.
 
The Wolfpack will next travel to Anne Arundel on Sunday for their first Region 20 doubleheader of the season, with the first pitch at noon.
