Wolfpack Split Double Header with CSMD

Saturday afternoon saw the Westmoreland County Community College baseball team play host to the College of Southern Maryland Hawks in a Region 20 doubleheader.

Game one was a very close contest, which saw Travis Keister take to the mound, and give a great performance.  Travis pitched 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, while striking out five.  Unfortunately, College of Southern Maryland scored a second run in the top of the seventh, and the Wolfpack could only bring home one run in the 2-1 loss. 

Anthony Massari and Dyson Murner both collected two hits on the day, Massari drove in the Wolfpack's only run.  Matthew Perez, Logan Short, Ethan Wilson, and Tanner Colflesh each added in a hit a piece.

 

Game two saw the Wolfpack explode in the third inning, scoring 6 runs in the inning.  They would go on to add on 2 more in the fourth, and 3 more in the 5th innings to bring the final score to 11-1.

Leading the offense for Westmoreland was Logan short who went 3 for 4 on the day and added in 2 RBI'S.  Mathew Perez stayed hot adding in 2 more hits and 2 RBI's.  Bobby Etze slashed 2 hit and 3 RBI's.  Ethan Wilson, troy Waugh, Anthony Massari, Owen Miller, Brayden Patton, and Dylan Stonebraker each added in a hit each, with Miller driving in 2 runs and Wilson plating one run.

One the mound, Jake Smith went the distance pitching all 5 innings, allowing just one run on 3 hits and striking out two.  With the win, smith moved to 2-1 on the season with a 2.188 ERA on the season.

The Wolfpack earned the split with Southern Maryland, and will be right back out on the field Sunday as they play host to Allegany College of Maryland for a home double header with a noon first pitch.
