Westmoreland Swept by Allegany

Sunday afternoon the wind was blowing to out right field, and the hitters took full advantage of the situation.  Allegany College of Maryland launched 3 homeruns, and Westmoreland sent one over the fence.  Allegany ended up sweeping the doubleheader 13-3 and 17-6.

Game one saw Allegany jump out to a 6-0 lead after two innings before being held to 1 run over the next three innings.  Westmoreland got on the board in the fifth and sixth innings with three runs, but Allegany scored six more in the sixth inning to make it 13-3. 

Ethan Wilson led the way with two singles.  Matthew Perez, Jake Smith, Anthony Massari, Brady Stivenson, and Dylan Stonebraker each added a hit.  Smiths hit was a 2 run homerun off the scoreboard in right field.  It was Smith's first home run of the season. 

On the mound Brayden Patton went 5 innings allowing 7 earned runs on the day, striking out one batter.  Brody Byrd finished out the last inning allowing 3 earned runs while striking out 2 batters.

Game two saw a close game, tied at 6 going into the top of the fifth inning, when Allegany exploded for 11 runs, and winning 17-6.  Westmoreland Collected 7 hits with Logan Short, Matthew Scarpa, and Brady Stivenson each getting two hits apiece, Try Waugh added one hit as well.  Short had 2 RBI's, Stivenson, and Smith added one each as well.  Stivenson also added two stolen bases in the game as well.

Four Pitcher took the mound for Westmoreland with Matthew Perez getting the start.  He went 4.1 inning allowing 8 earned runs on 7 hits.  Ethan Wilson, Brody Byrd, and Sam Criger striking out one batter and allowing 4 hits the rest of the way. 

Westmoreland now turns their attention to this week where they will play host to Finger lakes Community College on Wednesday for a noon double header, before traveling to CCBC Catonsville for a Saturday noon double header.
