Wolfpack Baseball Kick Off the 2025 Season at CSMD

The Westmoreland County Community College Baseball team opened the 2025 baseball season in La Plata Maryland for a NJCAA Region 20 doubleheader against the College of Southern Maryland. CSMD broke game one open after a 5 run second inning on their way to a 7-1 win.

The Wolfpack totalled 5 hits in game one. Jake Smith, Jake Gedekoh, Brandon Bell, Anthony Massarri, and Matt Scarpa all had a hit for the Wolfpack. A third inning sacrifice fly by Brady Stivenson accounted for the lone Wolfpack run scoring Matt Scarpa. Smith and Scarpa both doubled in the game, while Scarpa added a stolen base as well.

Larry Weaver started for the Wolfpack going 4 innings allowing 7 runs, only 2 earned runs. Weaver struck out one while only walking one. Dylan Stonebraker came in to go the final two innings, allowing no runs, no hits while striking out two.

Game two saw Westmoreland score 4 runs in the 13-4 loss. Brandon Bell added two more hits in game 2 for Westmoreland, one being his first double of the season. Owen Miller, Cayden Robert Dylan Stonebraker, and Dyson Murner each collected their first hits of the season. Roberts and Murner both swiped a base as well. Miller drove in 2 of the Wolfpack runs, while bell added his first RBI of the season. 

Lefty Jake Smith started game 2 on the mound going 3 innings allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 3. Elliott Sterner followed going 1 inning, allowing 1 run, unearned, amd striking out three. Riley Smith went .2 of an inning allowing 3 runs and striking out 2. Sami Crieger came in to finish up the final 1.1 innings, allowing 1 hit, no runs, and striking out one.

Westmoreland will be off until next Sunday when they kick off their 8 day road trip with a doubleheader at CCBC Essex before traveling to the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, and then stopping at Prince George's Community College on Sunday the 9th.
