WOLFPACK COME UP SHORT AT PENN HIGHLANDS

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - All five starters scored in double figures and the Westmoreland County Community College men's basketball team set a season-high for points in a half, but the Wolfpack could not overcome a bit opening period from Penn Highlands in dropping a 98-78 decision Monday night.

Penn Highlands raced out to a 50-26 halftime lead to take control of the game, but the Wolfpack were the hot team in the second half. Westmoreland outscored PH 52-48 after the break to set a new season-high for points in a half. The 78 points in the game were the second-highest this season behind only a 79-point effort against Butler Jan. 16.

It was a very balanced attack for the Wolfpack Monday night with all five starters notching double digits. Top scoring efforts were posted by Dipo Olaneye and Michael Yuricha with 18 markers apiece. Yuricha nearly had a double-double after he grabbed nine rebounds and Olaneye chipped in with five steals, five assists and five rebounds.

Next on the scoring list were Garrett Dhans and Luke Stein with 15 points each and Dhans also had six rebounds. Top assist honors for the game went to Xavier Johnson, who passed out nine helpers and also tossed in 10 points. And coming off the bench was Aron Whatule, who set season-bests with six rebounds and three steals.

The Wolfpack return home for a conference tilt next Thursday, Feb. 7th when they host Pitt-Titusville at 7 pm.
