WOLFPACK'S SEASON CLOSES WITH LOSS AT BUTLER IN WPCC SEMIFINALS
BUTLER, Pa. - Despite 30 points from Dipo Olaleye, the Westmoreland County Community College men's basketball team could not slow down top-seeded Butler County Community College, as the Pioneers advanced to the WPCC Tournament Championship game by defeating the Wolfpack 90-69 Saturday afternoon.
Butler raced out of the gates to take an 11-6 lead five minutes into the contest. Westmoreland came back with consecutive threes from Xavier Johnson and Michael Yuricha to take their first lead of the game at 12-11. The Pioneers would control the rest of the first half, scoring eight straight to take a 19-12 lead and continued to pull away to build a 48-24 lead into halftime.
The Wolfpack would outscore Butler in the second half but weren't able to get the deficit under 20 until the closing minutes to make a serious run. Olaleye would lead all scorers in the game, as he dropped in 30 to match his season-high, which was preivously set on Jan. 16th, also against Butler. He also grabbed 11 boards for his third double-double of the year and made four steals as well.
Two other notched double digit points, including Yuricha, who scored 11 and also grabbed 13 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season, and Xavier Johnson, who also fired in 11 markers. Closing out the scoring for the Wolfpack was Luke Stein with three three-pointers and nine points and Garrett Dhans, who scored eight points.
