Westmoreland takes on Penn State Fayette

Westmoreland takes on Penn State Fayette

Westmoreland traveled to Penn State Fayette on Wednesday night to battle the Lions in a non-regional game.  Only 45 minutes separates these two schools and they haven't met in the last three years. The wolfpack was looking to string back to back wins just coming off a home victory against Waynesburg's JV team.

Marvel McGown opened up the scoring for the wolfpack with a nice take to the basket. The teams would go on and trade baskets in the first half as they went back and fourth with taking the lead. By the time the first half ended, Westmoreland found themselves down 38-37.

The second was much of the same, as the teams continued to compete hard. Penn Sate opened up a 9 point lead but Westmoreland stormed back to tie the game. In the end, poor free throw shooting and some costly turnovers caused the wolfpack to fall to Penn State Fayette by a score of 82-74. Colin Masten lead the wolfpack with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Westmoreland will look to get back in the win column when they take on Chesapeake in a regional 20 on Sunday.
