Cross Country Takes on the La Roche Invitational
Friday evening the Westmoreland County Community College men's and women's cross country team traveled to La Roche College Invitational to run their 5k course. The Wolfpack placed 3 women and 7 men in the top 10 in each race.
The ladies were first up taking on the runners from Mt Aloysius, Pitt Greensburg, CCAC, and La Roche. Larissa Vozar was the first member of the Wolfpack to cross the line with a time of 25:05 in third place. Brynne Davis followed one second behind at 25:06 in fourth place. In sixth place was Makayla Lander with a time of 25:50. Rounding out the Wolfpack runners was Chloe Willochell running a personal best of 27:27 in eleventh place.
The men's team were next up, and placed 7 runners in the top 10, on their way to a first place finish as a team. Dante Frescura led the way with a second place finish with a time of 17:48. In third and fourth places were freshman Frank Benko and Joe Barrick with times of 18:26 and 18:53. Jared Bowman, Andy Petrazzi, Micah Conroy, and Peyton Hause placed fifth through eighth with times of 19:12, 19:13, 19:25, and 19:32. Robbie Halinka placed eleventh, while Jon Kiggins 22nd with a huge, almost 4 min PR at 23:38.
Next up for the Wolfpack will be the NJCAA Division III Region 20 meet on their home course in Youngwood on October 22nd with the men's race starting at noon and the women's race at 1pm.
