Softball Starts the 2024 Season

Monday afternoon saw the rescheduled kickoff of the 2024 softball season for Westmoreland County Community College. As they played host to the Penn State Fayette Lions in a doubleheader at Westmoreland.
 
In game one The offense started out a little slow, in the 9 to 0 loss. Chloe Willochell and Ruby Rojas combined for both of Westmoreland's hits, Willochell also added a stolen base in the game. On the mound, for the Wolfpack was freshman Kaidence Thomas. She went five innings, allowing six hits and seven earned runs. She struck out five batters in her five innings of work and took the loss in game one.
 
Game two saw the offense come alive with Westmoreland accumulating six hits. Willochell, Thomas, Chloe Trice, Alexis Jellison, Sydney Matijevic, and Brooklyn Furman each had a hit in game two. Matijevic and Furman each drove in a run for the Wolfpack.
 
Sophomore Sydney Matijevic Started game two on the mound going 3.1 innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs before giving away to freshman Alexis Jellison who went the final 1.2 innings. Jellison Allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits. Westmoreland ended up falling in game two 10-2. 
 
Due to a couple of game cancelations, Westmoreland will next play Frederick Community College at home on Wednesday, March 20 for a 2 PM doubleheader.
