Surike and Misleany Lead Women's Basketball to Wins

Youngwood, PA - The women's basketball team won two games in less than 24 hours over the weekend as they defeated Penn State Fayette on Friday 87-62 and bounced back on Saturday to knock off Region XX powerhouse Potomac State 81-77. Westmoreland trailed Friday night's game at the half but the Wolfpack came out of the locker room and stifled the Lions the entire second half. Mikala Misleany powered home 20 points on the evening while Kylee Surike netted 16 and Rachel Garris deposited 14 points. On Saturday, the women were in a battle all game long with the Catamounts. Once again the Wolfpack made several key stops late to go along with a huge three pointer by Lauren Felix to give Westmoreland the lead. Key free throws by Hannah Hempfield down the stretch sealed the 81-77 victory which saw the women improve to 18-5 on the season. Surike added a season high 27 points while Misleany tossed home 18 points on the afternoon.
