Westmoreland Defeats Penn State New Kensington

The Westmoreland women's basketball team defeated Penn State New Kensington by a score of 72 to 64 in a home game on Tuesday evening. The lady wolfpack got out to a fast start after winning the opening tip off and scoring a quick 2 points. The teams trading baskets for most of the first quarter but Westmoreland found themselves up 16 to 14 after one. The lady wolfpack stretched their lead in the second quarter outscoring Penn State New Kensington by 7 points and leading 35 to 26 at halftime. Angel Kelly hit five 3 pointers for the lady wolfpack in the first half. In the third quarter, Westmoreland was able to hold off a run by PSU New Kensington and stay up by 4 points. The lady wolfpack was able to pull away in the 4th quarter to secure the win. Three players had a double double for Westmoreland as Mercedes Majors had 26 points 10 rebounds, Chloe Willochell had 26 points with 10 rebounds, and Angel Kelly had 18 points with 10 rebounds. The lady wolfpack's next game will be in the WPCC conference tournament next weekend.
