
Westmoreland Takes Part in Second Consecutive National Championship
For the second straight year, Westmoreland County Community College was represented at the NJCAA Division III National Golf Championship at Chautauqua Golf Club.
Sophomore Kylie Kadas took part in the event for the second time in her college career for Westmoreland. Kadas had an opening around of 121. She then posted a second round of 122, which gave her a 243 total through the first two days. Day three saw her post a score of 135, which brought her three day total to 378. On the final day of the tournament, Kadas posted her lowest score of the week shooting a round of 118. She ended the week with a total score of 496. This was good enough to place Kyle 15th overall, and earn her Honorable Mention All American Honors for the second straight year.
On the men's side, as a team, Westmoreland finished 11th overall with a total score of 1434 for a week. Freshman Conner Iarussi had the lowest round of the week for the Wolfpack with a 76 on day three. Carson McCully, Rylan Keslar and Bryan Materkowski all also had their lowest rounds of the week on Thursday with rounds of 82, 85, and 94. Chris Saversky and Sullivan Smith each had their lowest round of the tournament on Friday, with rounds of 95 and 93. Iarussi had the best individual finish for the Wolfpack, placing tied for 20th place with a total score of 317.
With this tournament making the end of Kadas's career at Westmoreland, all members of the men's team are eligible to be back next year. We wish Kylie the best of luck as she moves on from Westmoreland, we look forward to the men's team taking the next step in their college careers starting this fall.
