Cross Country Competes at Regional Championships

Westmoreland County Community College Men's of women's cross country team hosted the NJCAA region 20 cross country championships on their home course Saturday afternoon. 

The women took to the 5K course first. Sophomore Larissa Vozar was the first member of the Wolfpack to cross the finish line traversing the course in a time of 23:39 To finish in 12th place. Savanna Orner was next in 17th place was an overall time of 25:13. Rounding out the women's team was Makayla Lander in 22nd place, Brynne Davis in 31st place, and Chloe Willochell in 35th place. The women's team in their first year in division to placed fifths in the region as a team.

As a light rain started to fall the men took to the 8K course and Sophomore Robbie Halinka ran one of his best times of the season, finishing in 31:56, Which was good enough for 13th Place. Anderson Petrazzi was next to cross the line with the time of 37:41. Then came sophomore Jon Kiggins with the time of 43:42. 

The WPCC Conference also passed out their awards as well, with three members of the Wolfpack getting honored. Larissa Vozar, being the conference champion, and Savanna Orner being the runner up for the women. While Robbie Halinka finished as a runner up on the men side.

And with no one qualifying for the national championship meet this year, the cross country season has come to an end. The sophomore class has given so much to this program and will be tremendously missed. Thank you to all our student athletes.
