Cross Country Kicks Off with Home Invite

In the heat of Friday evening, the Westmoreland County Community College cross country teams kicked off their 2024 fall season with their home invitational.  In the event, both the men and women ran 5k.

This year the women were up first and competed hard in the 12-team field.  Leading the way for the Wolfpack were freshman Kylie Klinger, Franklin Regional, placing 15th with a time of 26:07.  She was followed by Sophomore Savanna Orner in 16th place clocking in at 26:22. Next to cross the line for the Pack was Freshman Lexie Kepple placing 30th in a time of 30:40.  Rounding out the Wolfpack runners for the event was first time runner, Freshman Eva Lichty who completed her first ever 5k in a time of 36:46.

The sun had started to go down when the men took to the course.  The Wolfpack only fielding two runners in the event, Freshmen Adam Halinka and Tyler Stone.  Halinka was the first member of the Wolfpack to the tape crossing in 33rd place with a time of 23:36, while Stone placed 38th in a time of 27:26.

Next up for the Wolfpack will be a trip to Juniata on Friday 9-13-24, with a 5pm start time.
