
Westmoreland Places Second at La Roche Invite
Friday night saw Westmoreland county community college men's and women's cross country team and the 2024 invitational part of the season. They traveled to La Roche College to take part in a nine team field for the event. There was a last-minute change to the course, which change the course, adding in four significant hills.
The women were up first, running the 5K distance for this meet. Westmoreland placed three runners in the top 10, on their way to a 2nd place finish behind Carlow. Kylie Klinger continues for strong season with a seventh place finish in a time of 25:33. Savanna Orner placed ninth overall with a finishing time of 26:17. Lexie Kepple placed 10th overall with a 27:25. Freshman Eva Lichty continues to get better every race. Even on the very challenging course, she was just off her season personal best as she finished with a time of 31:34. Freshman Avery Bailey did set a season best time at La Roche with a 21st place finish, and a time of 35:47.
On the men's side, freshman Adam Halinka, Southmoreland high school, place 12 overall with a new personal best time at the 5K distance of 21:19. This was a 22 second improvement over his personal best, that was set just a month ago at Mount Aloysius. Freshman Tyler Stone, Franklin Regional high school, place 26 overall in a time of 25:49.
With the regular season concluded, the Wolfpack will now travel to Hagerstown Community College on Saturday, October 26th for the NJCAA Region 20 Championship meet, where the Wolfpack will look qualify for the NJCAA National Championship.
