Big 4th Inning Lifts Wolfpack to Win

Sunday afternoon Prince George'ss Community College visited Youngwood for a non-regional baseball doubleheader, which saw Prince George's take the lead early in game one and not look back in a 10 to 3 victory. In game two though, Westmoreland used a 14 run bottom of the fourth inning to carry them to a 18-7 victory in game two.

Game one Saw Prince's go up 8-0 with five runs in the third and three runs in the fourth. Westmoreland, then got on the board with two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth.

Matthew Perez had 2 hits on the day also driving in 2 runs. Dylan Stonebreaker also added in two hits while Troy Waugh, Jake Smith, Brady Stivenson, and Cole Kennedy-Citeroni each added a hit as well. 

Sophomores Brayden Patton and Brody Byrd both took to the mound this the game with Patton getting the start, and taking the loss. Patton went 3.1 innings allowing 8 runs on 7 hits. Byrd then came in to pitch the final 3.2 innings allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits.

 

Game two saw the offense break out with 16 hits, and scoring 14 runs in the fourth inning.

Jake Smith went 4 for 4 with 3 RBI's in the game. While Brady Stivenson, Matthew Perez, Brayden Patton, and Owen Miller each added 2 hits a piece. Miller led the way with 5 RBI's for the Wolfpack, while Perez and Smith both added in 3 RBI's each. Patton and Dylan Stonebraker both added 2 RBI's each and Dyson Murner and Matthew Scarpa added 1 RBI a piece.

Ethan Wilson got the start on the mound for Westmoreland going 2.1 innings allowing 7 runs on 5 hits. He was followed by Brody Byrd who went the next 1.2 picking up the win, striking out 3 and allowing no runs. Jack McBride pitched the last inning for the Wolfpack allowing no runs on 1 hit.

The Wolfpack will now get a much needed day off as they will play host to PSU Shenango on Tuesday afternoon.
