Westmoreland County Community College is excited to announce the hiring of Scott Morrison as the new Men’s Head Basketball Coach.  Scott has an extensive athletic and coaching background, playing Division I College Football while attending St. Francis, PA.  During his time at Mercyhurst Northeast he played on their NJCAA basketball team.  Later he also played Semi-Pro Football for the Pittsburgh Colts.  Scott has been an AAU basketball coach at many different age levels, and was the Westmoreland Women’s Assistant Basketball Coach last season.  He has also spent time as an assistant football coach at Norwin and Plum High Schools, as well as the golf coach at Yough Senior High School.

Morrison graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, PA with a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Resource and General Management.  He then returned to IUP where he obtained his Master of Science in Sports Management in 2020.

Scott joined the Westmoreland County Community College Athletic Department in the Summer of 2022 as the Athletics and Recreation Technician, and Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach.  Morrison was also the Athletic Director at Yough Senior High School from 2020 to 2022, and also was the Parks and Recreation Director for Sewickley Township.  While as the Athletic Director at Yough, Scott oversaw all aspects of the athletic department.  Including the expansion and update of the school’s weight room facilities.  He also had the opportunity to complete an internship as Athletic Director Assistant at North Allegheny High school in 2018.

“Scott has made a huge impact on our students already here at the college,” said Athletic Director Patrick Comer.  “He is a great motivator and leader, and as we move to the NJCAA Division II level of competition, I am excited to see what he will be able to do with the team.”
