Westmoreland Plays Penn State N. Kensington in Softball Home Opener

The Westmoreland softball team played Penn State New Kensington in their home opener on Tuesday. The first game of the doubleheader started at 3pm. Penn State New Kensington jumped out to an early lead in the first inning and went on to win the game 29-3.  Ruby Rojas and Makayla Boda both had hits for the Wolfpack, and scored both runs for Westmoreland.  Boda tripled in Rojas, and then Boda stole home.

The second game of the double header started around 5pm, and Westmoreland showed positive signs of improvement. The lady wolfpack made some nice defensive plays, and had some solid hits from Boda and Rojas, who tripled, and doubled. Chloe Trice, Leah Herman, and Abigail Kratochvil each had singles as well.  The score of the second game ended 20-2 with Penn State New Kensington winning the game. The next opponent up for Westmoreland will be a double header with CCAC on Saturday at home with a noon start for game one and a 2pm start for game two.
