Women's Basketball Falls Short in Season Opener

After missing the 2020-2021 season due to the pandemic, the Women's Wolfpack Basketball team finally got a chance to return to the court for their season opener against WPCC Conference opponent Butler County Community College.

The Wolfpack fell behind early before staging a comeback, cutting a 15 point lead down to 6 by the half.  In the second half some foul trouble hit the Wolfpack, and allowed Butler to open up a lead and closed out the game with a 76 to 54 final score.

Makayla Boda lead the Wolfpack with 22 points and 7 steals.  She was followed by Chloe Willochell's 14 points, and Autumn Stewart's 9 points, and 8 rebounds.  Angel Kelly added 7 points, and 5 rebounds.  Alexia Stanek hauled in 6 rebounds, and Mercedes Smartnick added to the stat sheet with 1 rebound and 1 steal.

The ladies will be back in action on Friday night as they travel to Penn Highlands Community College to play a Region 20 opponent in Prince George's College at 4 pm.
