WOLFPACK DUO TAKES 2ND IN REGION DOUBLES

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. - Led by a second place finish by Julia Jumper and Haley Wedow in doubles, the Westmoreland County Community College women's bowling team placed second overall at the Region XX Championships held Friday at Coral Lanes.

The competition started with singles play and Jumper had a good showing for the Wolfpack. She closed the series with a score of 160, the second-highest of the round, which propelled her past threee other bowlers to take second place overall with a series score of 400.

In doubles play, it was Wedow's big scoring that lifted the Westmoreland team. She rolled 125-138-120 to total 383, the second-highest score posted in doubles play. Combined with Jumper, the duo scored 710 overall to earn runner-up honors.

Those efforts were enough for the Wolfpack to finish in second place behiond regional champion Penn Highlands. Westmoreland will roll one more week when they play the NJCAA National Championships next week, which will be hosted by Erie Community College at Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga, NY. There will be a practice round Thursday with competion being played Friday and Saturday.
