Wolfpack Women Finish on Top

HOMESTEAD, Pa – This week the Westmoreland Wolfpack traveled to CCAC for the WPCC Championships.

To start off the day, the Wolfpack women competed in the doubles event going head to head with duos from Penn Highlands and a pair from CCAC. In the first set of games, sophomore Jaquie Thompson and first year bowler Ashleigh Walker threw a 131 and a 199, respectively. For the second, Thompson improved by tossing a 134 while Walker threw a 180.  Jaquie finished her third game with a 119 and Ashleigh topped off her doubles event with a 195. The women finished the doubles competition with a total of 958 giving them second place behind the CCAC duo of Kali Adams and Anna Swindle, who totaled 1012 for the event.

Moving onto singles, Walker tossed 200, 178, and 138 for a series of 516 giving her second place for the women's singles event behind Anna Swindle of  CCAC who barely scratched by Walker with a 529 series. Thompson threw a 109, 123, and a 113 for a series of 345. Jaquie placed eighth in the singles event just behind Penn Highlands' Allison Gustkey.

On the men's side of the ball, sophomore Austin Douglas tossed a 174, 125, and 134 to give him the seventh spot in men's singles with a 433 series. Overall, for the day, Douglas finished in fifth place as well. His total series was 980 through six games, including his career high game of 203, where he averaged 163.3 on the day.

Walker threw a combined 1090 through six games and Thompson combined for 729 on the day. Walker walked away with the top spot for All Events ahead of CCAC's Anna Swindle, who totaled a 1074. Thompson finished seventh in the All Events standings.

The Wolfpack's season comes to end with this exciting week for both men and women's teams. Ashleigh Walker finishes the season with 5012 total pins averaging 185.6 on the year. Jaquie Thompson finishes with an average of 119.7 with 2872 total pins. For the Men, Austin Douglas tallied 4657 pins and averaged 155.2 for the 2021 season.
