Wolfpack Women Win Second Straight Home Invitational

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - Led by three of the top five runners, the Westmoreland County Community College women's cross country team finished first out of NJCAA schools to win its second consecutive Wolfpack Invitational.

There were a total of five NJCAA schools represented at the meet, as Westmoreland scored 56 points to edge out Lorain, who totaled 64. Carroll, Garrett and Harford also had individuals compete. There were also two NAIA schools running, as Point Park had a strong showing, while Carlow had individuals compete.

Pacing the Wolfpack runners was sophomore Brooke Bertovich. She finished first among NJCAA runners and eighth overall, as she came across in 23:32.4. Next to finish for Westmoreland was freshman Jennifer Depree, who was third in the NJCAA race with a time of 24:06.9. Completing the top five was sophomore Olivia Jumper, whose time of 24:54 scored fifth place.

Westmoreland's first place team finish was clinched thanks to first-year runners Molleigh Henderson and Anna Rubino claiming ninth and 10th place, respectively, while Lorain's final two runners placed 12th and 14th among NJCAA runners.

The Wolfpack will run again next Saturday when they travel to Garrett College in Maryland for an invitational set to begin at noon.
