Wolfpack Dominant in Winning Laker Invitational

ACCIDENT, Md. - The Westmoreland County Community College women's cross country team had the top three runners and and six of the top seven overall, as they won the Laker Strong Invitational hosted by Garrett College Saturday.

Sophomore Brooke Bertovich was the overall winner, taking first place with a time of 23:29, which bested her time from last week's Wolfpack Invitational by three seconds. Coming in behind her was Jenn Depree, clocking in with a time of 24:45. She just edged out teammate Olivia Jumper, who was third in a time of 24:47, which took seven seconds off her time from last week.

Carroll College had the fourth place runner, but the next three spots belonged to Westmoreland. Earning fifth place was Nytasha Marteny, who posted a time of 25:40 in her first race of the season. In sixth place was Anna Rubino, who shaved more than a minute from her time last week by coming in at 25:54 and Molleigh Henderson was seventh overall in 26:25, which was 21 seconds faster than a week ago. Competing in her first race for the Wolfpack this season was Morgan Brown, as she rounded out the Westmoreland runners Saturday.

Now with two weeks off, the Wolfpack will be back on the trails Oct. 3rd when they compete at the Penn Highlands Invitational.
