Women's XC with 3 in Top 10
Westmoreland County Community College's women's cross country teams opened up the season with the 12th Annual Wolfpack Invitational. Mt Aloysius, La Roche, Penn Highlands, Potomac State, CCAC, Penn State Fayette, and Pitt Greensburg all took part in the 5K event to kick off the season.
In the first meet of the season, three members of the women's team took part in the event, placing all three runners in the top 10. Freshman Larissa Vozar (Southmoreland) was first to the line placing fifth overall for the Wolfpack, with a time of 24:32. In eighth and ninth place came Brynne Davis (Hempfield Area) and Makayla Lander (Hempfield Area), finishing with times of 25:28 and 25:42.
"This was a great start for these young ladies," Coach Patrick Comer said after the meet. "These are the kind of athletes we can build around as we move towards moving to NJCAA Division II next fall. With as hard as they are working, I am expecting big things for these young women," added comer
Next up for the ladies will be a trip to Bethany on Saturady. They will be running their first 6k of the season at 10am, followed by the men's 8K at 11am.
